 Present Perfect Continuous Tense 

This Tense is also called Present Progressive Tense. 

Structure

Subject + has / have + been + V(1) + ing 

Examples



1.  I have been waiting here for three hours.




2.  He has been singing in this band for two years.




3 . I have been learning English Language for three months. 



 4. They have been saving money for ten years. 





5  My mom has been making sweaters since my child hood.



Use of Since and For 
 Since is used for exact time and
 for is used for period of time or amount of time 

Since 1 O'CLOCK
Since 2022
Since Monday
Since January
Since childhood
Since morning 
Since I left school
Since 7am

For two hours
For three weeks
For four days
For five years
For several months 
For a long time
For ever

Uses Of Present Perfect Continuous Tense 

The Present Perfect Continuous is used for an action which began at some time in the past and is still continuing.

For example 

1  They have been constructing the building  for six months. 
2  He has been sleeping for five hours (and is still sleeping).
3 The boys have been playing game since morning 🌄.
4  My father has been reading a novel for a week.
5 I have been driving a car 🚗 for seven years.

Negative Sentences

Subject + has/ have ( not) + been + V(1) ing

1  They have not been constructing the building. 

2. He has not been sleeping for five hours? 

Interrogative Sentences 

Has / have + subject + been + V(1)ing + object ? 

1  Have they been constructing the building? 
2. Has he been playing for two hours? 

This tense is also sometimes used for an action already finished. In such cases the continuity of the activity is emphasized as an explanation of something. 

For example

Why are your clothes so wet?-1 have been watering the garden'.
